The idea for "Bedazzled Earrings", " Designs by Ruby" is something I have thought about over the years but had no idea how to start. "YOU HAVE CANCER." Those are the words that have changed not only my life but the lives of my family, friends, patients. Both my parents passed away from cancer when I was in elementary school. I am a 25-plus year BRACA I breast cancer survivor having gone through both chemotherapy and radiation when I was 34 years old. One of the hardest days I had was walking into work after we had to shave my hair off in the back yard (made into a family event with my 6yr, 2yr, 3-month-old kids helping daddy cut mommy's hair). I had this ugly pink head scarf on, and not only did I feel like crap, but felt on display about what I looked like. I recently retired from a Nursing career where I spent 25 years giving chemotherapy to patients just like me. I want every cancer patient to have access to something that makes looking in the mirror a little easier. I am donating $1.00 for every pair of earrings sold for gift certificates for wigs or head covering for cancer patients. Please help me provide this small gift for as many as we can.
